Shutter error—the focus sum suddenly drops to zero, the shutter is stuck, or you see error message [17686]

Product

Thermal 1.0/1.7 head

Component

Shutter

Symptoms

If you see the following symptoms, the shutter sensor is either defective or the sensor wires have been broken:

  • You see error message [17686] HEAD: LV Not enough light for beam balance
  • The shutter is stuck
  • The focus sum suddenly drops to zero

Cause

The shutter sensor is defective or the sensor wires have been broken.

Solution

Replace the shutter using the procedure Thermal 1/1.7 Shutter Sensor Replacement Procedure.
Note: Before replacing the shutter, ensure that head firmware version 1.62 or later is installed.

Temporary workaround for remote support:

  1. Turn off automatic beam balancing (stroke cal) by setting the value of TSTK to 0. Use the following commands:
    >>set sys tstk 0
    >>nvs save sys
  2. Once the shutter is replaced or the problem is otherwise solved, return TSTK to 540.

Note: Return the old shutter to your regional parts depot. Make sure that you include a defective parts form. Mark the package:
