Carriage and/or ball nut

Symptoms

Light or dark lines appear between swaths on alternate plates. The lines travel across the length of the plate in the mainscan direction. The light lines may appear to be underexposed.

Cause

The carriage is moving improperly. Possible causes include:

• damaged or defective carriage (see the example)
• a loose connection between the ball nut and the carriage

Solution

1. Ensure that the media is set up correctly.
