Stroke cal fails and hvtrim has a value of 0

Product

  Thermal 2 head

Machines affected

All devices with a thermal 2 head

Error

You may see one of the following errors:

  • [03567] The beam-balance has failed
  • [03544] The write laser control mode has been aborted
  • [02318] The laser power could not be calculated during calibration

Symptoms

Stroke cal fails and the parameter hvtrim has a value of 0.

Cause

This occurs when the script contrastvhv.spt fails or is aborted. The script changes the hvtrim parameter to 0, and this causes stroke cal to fail.

Solution

  1. Check the value of hvtrim. Type:
    >> redirect enable
    TH2> eng
    TH2> set lvd
  2. The value of hvtrim should be between 60 and 80. If it has a value of 0, you must set hvtrim to the factory setting value.
To obtain the factory setting value, get the head serial number and refer to the TH2 factory settings.
Note: If you aren’t able to access the factory settings, contact your PSS.
  3. Enter the factory setting value for hvtrim. Use the command
set lvd hrvtrim X where X = the factory value for hvtrim.

Note: This will be corrected in the next version of Service Shell.
