Symptoms

The head is unable keep the laser temperature at the 20°C setpoint.

Cause

As of 12 June 2006, all Thermal 2.5 heads are being shipped with the laser diode temperature set to 20°C. Internal changes to the head support this lower temperature, which should increase the life of the laser.

The parameter ldd wlpsetpoint is now set to 20°C, rather than 25°C.

Solution

Note: To determine the head type, type TH2>>set sys comment

1. Check the serial number of the head. If it is T02924 or higher, ensure that the value for ldd wlpsetpoint is 20.
2. Check the following components of the cooling system:
   • Is the air filter in front of the radiator clean so that it allows proper air flow?
   • Is the coolant level in the reservoir be full?
   • Are the coolant hoses correctly seated in the fittings on the head?
3. If the error still appears, increase ldd wlpsetpoint to 25.
