Product

  • Thermal 1.X head
  • Negative and positive media

Error

Typically, no errors occur with this artifact. You may see the message:
WARNING: Focus sum out of range during focus learn.

Symptoms

Large triangle-shaped areas on the home side of the plate are blank. See the sample plates:

Causes

Focus learn has fallen off the plate. It could fall off the plate due to:

  • edge detection issues
  • the GC setting has an incorrect subscan shift
  • the plate may not be square, and may be loaded crookedly
  • burrs on the plate edge

Solution

  1. Check the edge detection calibration.
  2. Check that the plate is loaded correctly. Confirm that the plate is square. Check the autoloader (if applicable).
  3. Check the GC setting by running a plot 100.
  4. Check for damage or defects on the plate.
