Thermal3 Command

sat status

Description Each satellite board has a status register containing bit flags indicating internal malfunctions. These flags are scanned periodically by firmware on the main head controller. If any of these flags goes to a faulted state a system error is generated that consequently shuts down imaging and components such as the write laser, focus laser and servo controllers.

This monitor command displays the current state of all possible satellite fault flags periodically monitored by the firmware. Below is an example of the output from this monitor command:

   [ 58] PBP2: power supply fault
   [ 59] PBP2: input voltage fault
   [ 60] PBP2: unexpected reset
Two character flags are possible at the beginning of each line. An asterisk indicates that the status flag is 'masked off'. This means the fault is ignored by the firmware. Faults may be masked by using the monitor command sat mask (on|off) <index>. The number in square brackets is simply an indentifier used to refer to the fault when performing a mask operation. In the example above, the datapath CRC error status for both the LVDU and LDVL satellite boards are masked off.

An exclamation point character is displayed if the fault is currently asserted. If a particular board is not installed it is indicated to the right of the listed fault. Satellites that are not installed can not generate faults. It is possible to mask off faults for satellites that are not installed but the masking will have no effect until the satellite is actually present. In the example above, the power monitor fault is asserted on the NPE board.

Notes Thermal 1.0 / 1.7x equivalents:
  • The monitor command sat status does not have an equivalent.
