Service Shell client cannot communicate with device

Product

  • Service Shell 2.6
  • Service Shell 3.0

Platform

Intel

Operating system

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Windows 2000 Professional
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows XP

Symptoms

Service Shell Client unable to communicate with the GMCE device. The only entries in the Device Tree are RCTP and RCMD.

Cause

The TCP port (3007) required by CDI (Creo Device Interface) is being used by another process—Kodak Prinergy Evo.
To confirm that this is the cause, look for the following message in the srvshellsw.log:
76201 SwCode: c1250004 Source: CDI Unable to setup connection watchdog link to server process on hw01448 port 3007

Solution

  1. Use Prinergy Administrator to stop Prinergy Evo.
  2. Right-click on Service Host in the System tray to take Service Host offline and then back online.
  3. Use Prinergy Administrator to start Prinergy Evo.

This problem will be permanently fixed in later versions of Service Shell.
