Symptoms |
A password dialog box appears when Service Shell client is started. |
||
Cause |
Service Shell 2.5 and later versions are moving to Creo Feature Licensing (CFL). All affected machines should be upgraded to support CFL and service dongles as soon as possible. The purpose of the dongle or the password is to protect Service Shell from unauthorized use. |
||
Solution |
As a temporary measure until feature licensing can be installed on all devices, the valid time period and password for all versions of Service Shell are listed below. Do not try to change system time or try to reinstall Service Shell on the workstation. CFL support has been added to the Service Shell client for 2.6 SP1 and later versions. If possible, CFL should be installed, and a valid service dongle should be connected to the workstation when running Service Shell. Service Shell 2.6 SP2 is provided in the latest Controlled Release (CR) for each output device. If a valid service dongle is present, the user will not be prompted for a password. For more information, see the CFL site and learn how to install the service dongle. Under no circumstances should a service dongle remain at a customer site when a Service Engineer is not present. If the customer requires service functionality in Service Shell, the following criteria must be met:
OR If the criteria above are met, use one of the following solutions:
OR If CFL cannot be installed, or a service dongle cannot be acquired, the passwords below will enable the client. The protection mechanism and passwords for Service Shell are different depending on which version of Service Shell you are using. Use the password that corresponds to the version of Service Shell running on the workstation. For Service Shell 2.6 and earlier
The password above must be reentered each time the client is started. For Service Shell 2.6 Service Pack 1 or later
The password above only has to be entered once on a workstation. The password is retained internally for all subsequent startups until the password expires. |
