Error

Error reading head media on the master

Symptoms

When trying to run any of the Quantum series scripts (focus, power, slope, curve, and so on) the error message Error reading head media on the master displays.

Cause

One or more of the defined media names is using an illegal character, such as a period (.) or underscore (_).

Solution

1. Shut down the Lotem application.
2. Start Service Shell and change any media names that are using illegal characters. Do this in both the MCE (using the Quantum>> prompt) and in the head (type the command TH2>> set med).
3. Reset the MCE by typing Quantum>> reset.
4. Start the Lotem application.
