Enabling 5 decimal points in UpFront 4.0.2

Product

Kodak UpFront 4.0.2

Platform

Microsoft Windows

Operating system

Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003

Symptoms

Sometimes you need to enable the customer to use 5 decimal places in the measurement parameters in UpFront software, instead of the 4 decimal points that are used in UpFront 3.x or 4.0.1.

Solution

Pre-requisite for the following solution:
UpFront version 4.0.2

Changing the number of decimal places requires modifying the UpFront40.ini file of UpFront 4.0.2. The following line is manually added to the UpFront40.ini file in the Settings section:
Unit DecimalPlaces=5

Notes:

  1. The number of Unit DecimalPlaces must be set to either 4 or 5.
  2. This change only affects input that the user enters into the software interface. It does not affect internal software calculations.
  3. If the customer created databases using the setting of 5 decimal points and then changes the setting back to 4, the layouts might not be found because of a mismatch between the dimensions.
