Pre-requisite for the following solution:
UpFront version 4.0.2
Changing the Job name format requires modifying the UpFront40.ini
file of UpFront. A new section is manually added to the UpFront40.ini
file, or if the section already exists, you need to edit it:
The following text in the ini file shows what the section should
be after you either edit the existing section or add the section:
[Preps MultiPart Job]
Allow Spaces=1
Remove Hyphens=0
Use Pattern=0
Pattern=
entry values:
0 (zero) = FALSE, other values = TRUE
Explanation of parameters in the ini file:
Allow Spacesif FALSE (default is TRUE), UpFront
removes any space in the file name (and in the Pattern, if there are
any)
Remove Hyphensif TRUE (default is FALSE), UpFront
will remove any hyphen in the File Name (and in the Pattern, if there
are any)
Use Patternif TRUE (default is FALSE), UpFront
uses the pattern set in the Pattern entry. This allows
to turn off and on the pattern usage
PatternPossible Expressions: [JOB NAME],
[JOB TITLE], [JOB FILE], [PART TYPE],
[PART COUNTER] where:
[JOB NAME] is the file name selected by the user
[JOB TITLE] is the Job Title
[JOB FILE] is the Job File No.
[PART TYPE] is the exported part type, such as Text,
Cover, Folder, Leaflet
[PART COUNTER] is the order in the export process
file creation. For example, if 3 part types are exported, it is
the order in which they are exported. It is unrelated to the part
type, and just serves as a means of differentiation.
Notes:
Allow Spaces and Remove Hyphens are used
even if a pattern is not used.
Pattern must include at least one of the [PART
*] expressions, otherwise the pattern will resolve into a single file
name for all types. The file name is then ignored by the UpFront
software and the default pattern will be used.
- Invalid characters in the
pattern of the file name are
replaced with '-' (hyphen) (/\:*?"<>|)
Examples:
Job Name is myjob and it includes 2 part types (Text and
Cover).
Pattern=[JOB NAME][PART COUNTER] results in:
myjob1.job
myjob2.job
When using this pattern, you do not know which file is the
Cover, and which is the Text.
Whereas when: Pattern=[JOB NAME]_[JOB NAME]_[PART TYPE]
the result is:
myjob_myjob_Text.job
myjob_myjob_Cover.job
In this example, you know which file is the Cover and which is the Text.
Pattern=[JOB NAME]_[JOB NAME]
In this example, the file name is ignored because it is not unique.
You can also control the file name without a pattern by setting
the following flags:
Allow Spaces=0
Remove Hyphens=1
will result in:
myjobText.job
myjobCover.job
Allow Spaces=1
Remove Hyphens=1
will result in:
myjob Text.job
myjob Cover.job
