Error

Symptoms

After you insert the Branded serial number, Prepare asks for the Branding file and then displays the above error message.

Cause

There are two possible causes:

1. The Branding file has the wrong permissions.
2. The version of Prepare Pro that created the Branding file is a later version than the one trying to expand the Branding file.

Solution

Solution for cause 1: Change the permission on the Branding file to be the same as the current user and ensure that Read and Write permissions are given to the Branding file.

Solution for cause 2: Update Prepare to a later version. Later versions of Prepare Pro (2.0.3 and later) encrypt Branding files (and Directives), which means that versions 2.0.2 and earlier cannot read them.
