Ripro Backup / Timna

Scheduled Archiving cassetes indexes expire

Lev Weissman
23-August-00

Affected systems:

Timna

SW versions:

All

Problem description:

Scheduled Archiving cassettes indexes expire, indexes get status "cE" (eligible for recycling) or "cr" (recyclable).

Explanation:

As per CreoScitex Legato5 installation manual - the Default client is set up for "/dataVolumes/*",the ScitexArchive client is set up for "ALL".

This works nicely, keeping a 20 years policy for Sc.Arch. volumes, and a shorter one for a Default client.

If for some reason we will change this setting AFTER we already have several Scheduled Archiving volumes - all those volumes may very well get expired after the next full backup (that runs "nsrim -X").

Workaround:

  1. Change the clients back to the originally defined save sets settings.
  2. Recover the Legato DB from the date prior to the configuration change (mmrecov)
  3. Run full backup to verify that the Scheduled cassettes do not expire .
