Ripro Backup (Legato)

File too large message on recovery or mmrecov

Thomas Metzeler
February 2, 2000

Problem:

When running mmrecov from Legato one gets a message "File too large"

EXplanation:

This message in mmrecov means that the to be recovered file (index) exceeds the ulimit and mmrecov operation will fail.

"File too large" is the string corresponding to the system error EFBIG. This is the error that you get when you exceed the per-process file size limit.

Workaround:

Increase if necessary the ulimit in "smit chuser" -> select user root -> change "Soft FILE size" from the default 2097151 to the appropriate value (this is 512-kbyte blocks).
