Legato - Solving JBX Misbehavior (2)
L. Weissman
11/03/98
When your jukebox does not behave as expected- the following troubleshooting is recommended
verify that the volumes in the jukebox. You
may want to double-check this by running:
# nsrjb -Cv this will provide a list of Volumes by slot - this should agree with
the physical inventory.
If these lists do not agree, your jukebox is "confused" and you need to
proceed as follows.
reset element status use either of the
following at the command line:
**# nsrjb -HE -v (This resets the jukebox hardware and element status)
If you get an error message, try this again. The second try may correct the
problem. If errors continue, you should analyze the errors and correct them before
proceeding
For many simple problems, it may only be necessary to re-inventory the contents of
the jukebox to unconfuse the jukebox. This is easily done from the command prompt with:
*#nsrjb -I -v
If this is successful, there is no need for the stronger measures outlined below.
If this does not work or is inconvenient,
proceed as follows: *At the command prompt:
*#nsr_shutdown -a (shutdown all NetWorker daemons) *#mv /nsr/res/nsrjb.res
/nsr/res/nsrjb.res.old
*(renames jukebox resource file) (assumes default paths) *#nsrd (starts NetWorker
daemons)
*#jb_config (configure the jukebox)
*(It may be necessary to re-enter your jukebox enabler code at this time.) At this
point your jukebox should be working correctly.
Also, be sure you enable the auto media management resource through GUI -->
Media --> Jukeboxes --> Auto media management --> Yes
