Network Documentation - Introduction

Any Scitex network communication site should be documented in a site documentation file.

The site documentation file should contain precise details of the network configuration including communication rack drawing , communication network drawing, results of tests, etc...

A copy of this documentation should also be left at the customer site. Any changes in the network (moving of workstations, connecting one communication socket to another communication socket) will be updated in the document by the Scitex representative, only if the customer has a valid service contract . In any other case the updating of the document will be left to the customer.

It is recommended to prepare the drawing files with Netviz software supplemented with an Scitex icon library. All the icons should be distributed in a floppy disk for the use of all the subsidiaries.

The contents of the file should be as follow:

Introduction General description of the network at the site.
General drawing of the network The main outline of the network
Detailed drawing Network communication configuration in the site.
Front view detailed drawing of the Communication racks Detailed layout of devices in communication rack.
Floor drawing - overhead elevation. Description of the floor layout and communication sockets locations.
Site Configuration Table Describing workstations location and functionality
Testing tables
(10Base-T and fiber Optic) for the communication cables
All the cable tests will be done by the infrastracture subcontractor. The tests will be performed using a lan tester device that should be supplied by the subcontractor.
