Network Infastructure - SciNet FDDI

The SciNet FDDI board may be installed only in Ripro Servers / Archivers. It communicates Scitex PTOP protocol over the FDDI layer.

Scitex Whisper workstations may have two different types of connections:

• LANC / CPUMDC (Whispers only) boards
• FDDI board

Scitex workstations equipped with LANC / CPUMDC/ LANCMCA boards are recomended to be connected through a swtiching hub.

Scitex Whispers equipped with FDDI dual attach boards should be first connected through a FDDI concentrator (S/A - single attach), and then to the switching hub.

Scitex recommends switching from a dual attach bypass configuration to a FDDI concentrator.
