TCP/IP, NFS - MAC

Hardware Check:

If you can see AppleTalk devices (AppleShare, LaserWriter, etc...) on your network, your hardware and network connection is OK (assuming that that same Ethernet poprt is being used for EtherTalk and TCP/IP).

Configuration Check:

Verify that the MacTCP control panel is version 2.0.6 or newer (2.0.6 is the current release version). Verify the MacTCP configuration according to the procedure.

Use MacTCP Ping and try to ping as follows:

Network without TCP/IP router:

  • Ping the Ripro Server or other UNIX station.

Network with TCP/IP router:

  • Ping the Ripro Server or other UNIX station on the same IP subnetwork.
  • Ping the Router (ping your Gateway address - it is the IP address of the router port that you are connected to).
  • Ping other interfaces (other IP addresses) on the router.
  • Ping a UNIX station that is on another IP network.
