NT 4.0 Server on DEC Alphas also running Hummingbird NFS Maestro. |
Problem |
After upgrading from NT 3.51 to 4.0, the server crashes intermittantly. There can be little or no system activity when this occurs. If the user logs on to an account without NFS shares, the crash may not occur. |
Causes |
Microsoft Tech Support reports that this problem is caused by versions of NFS Maestro older than 5.1.3 because of changes in the file system APIs of Windows NT 4.0. Creo has found that Alphas running NFS Maestro 5.1.3 and higher under NT 3.51 can have this problem after being upgraded to NT 4.0. |
Solutions |
Uninstalling and
reinstalling Hummingbird Client and Server after the NT
4.0 upgrade will resolve the problem. Uninstalling
Hummingbird before the upgrade and reinstalling it after
will prevent the problem from occurring. Instructions for
uninstalling Hummingbird are in the document Dual Phoenix Upgrade Procedure (73-3137A-B).
