Windows NT 4.0 SCSI Print Fix for 2/533 Alpha Platforms

Applies to

NT 4.0 Server

Problem

A bug in SP3 version of SCSIPRNT.SYS sets SCSI printer device to narrow SCSI transfer when used in conjuntion with SYMBIOS (NCR) SCSI controller chip based SCSI card (which is used on the new Digital Server 5300 based Allegro 2/533a workstation).

The error

Recorder error 21004: SCSI: SCSI asynchronous transfer requested, line 1311

will appear when the driver attempts to set SCSI bus to narrow transfer.

Note! This effect the Allegro 2/533a workstations only.

Solutions

To update the scsiprnt.sys for NT 4.0:
  1. Copy SCSIPRNT.SYS to a floppy or network drive.
  2. Rename the orginal E:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\SCSIPRNT.SYS to SCSIPRNT.ORG.
  3. Copy the new SCSIPRNT.SYS to the directory E:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS.
  4. Reboot the workstation.
