Creating an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) can sometimes protect your system if it cannot boot properly from blue screen occurrences. An Emergency Repair Disk backs up the essential system-related files needed to properly boot the system in case a file becomes corrupted. |
Solution |
To
create an emergency repair disk: Go to a DOS command prompt (Start/Programs/Command Prompt). Put in a blank, formatted floppy into your floppy drive write "Emergency Repair Disk for <systemname>" and date on the floppy; store it in a safe place. Go to the root of your system drive, and type: rdisk /s. This procedure will create an emergency repair disk for your system that may be used to boot your computer successfully if your system will not boot up. However, please do not use the emergency repair disk before first contacting the Creo Response Center and having a Response Center technician diagnose the situation first before any system-related changes are made. Make weekly backup of system drives using Windows NT Backup. Using Windows NT Backup and making regular system backups with DAT tapes will also protect your data in the event of file corruption and other system-related issues. Don't forget to backup the registry when making a system backup; it is important to back up the registry as well as the system files. |
