Some files are missing from the Macintosh, but not from the PlateMaster server after retrieve from tape library or individual DLT drive

Product

  • PlateMaster v1.2F-2.0
  • Archiver v4.0-5.0

Platform

Alpha, Intel

Operating system

Windows NT 4.0

Symptoms

When you retrieve a PlateMaster job from the tape library or individual DLT drive, the retrieve seems to have been successful, but when you look for the retrieved files, you can’t find them on the Macintosh. They do, however, appear on the PlateMaster server.

Cause

Windows NT Services for Mac has a limitation on how much information it can display on the Macintosh.

Solution

  To correct the file display:
  1. Stop RAID Client:
    1. Maximize the PlateMaster 1.2x window.
    2. At the prompt, type stop raidclnt.
    3. At the prompt, type status. You should see that the RAID Client process is stopped.
  2. Force a rebuild of the file index for the job:
    1. Double-click the My Computer icon located on the desktop.
    2. Click View/Large Icons, then double-click the J: drive icon.
    3. Locate the folder of the newly created job that is not showing up.
    4. Move that folder from the J: drive to the T: drive, then back to the J: drive.
  3. Restart RAID Client:
    1. In the PlateMaster 1.2x window, type start raidclnt at the prompt.
    2. At the prompt, type status. You should see that the RAID Client process has been re-started.
  4. Confirm that you can see the newly created job from the Macintosh.
