Qualstar Library displays “Time for Periodic Maintenance” or “Check Filter”

Product

  • Timna
  • Brisque Serve
  • Prinergy

Symptoms

The Qualstar library displays one of the following messages on the front panel:

“Time for Periodic Maintenance” or
“Check Filter”

Solution

The Qualstar library will display one of the following messages on the front panel when maintenance is required:

“Time for Periodic Maintenance” or
“Check Filter”

Note: If the “Check Filter” message is displayed, it is the customer's responsiblity to change the filter. If the “Time for Periodic Maintenance” message is displayed, a service engineer must be scheduled to perform the periodic maintenance on the next site visit.

You can clear these messages by pressing the Enter key on the library. Clearing the messages will not interfere with the operation of the library. These messages are usually set to appear at intervals between 120 and 180 days. This interval can also be set, within the software, by your technicians in the field to adjust for environmental issues (for example, clean room or open floor).

When one of these messages is displayed the following actions are recommended:

  1. Change the Air Filter.
  2. Lubricate all the worm screws in the library (that is, lead screw, handler screw, and I/O port screw).
  3. Check for dust, dirt and foreign debris inside of the library. Remove any such debris and the library will then be ready for use.

Notes:

  • AIT tapes should be retensioned every 6 months.
  • According to Sony, AIT tape drives should be cleaned after every 50 hours of use.
Note: Cleaning tapes can be used up to 50 times.
  • Air filters need to be replaced every 120 days.
