Horizontal mapping error, then NVRAM corrupted.

Product

P1000 Tape Library ™

Symptoms

When you turn off then turn on the tape libraray, the library configuration resets to default, with error message: NVRAM corrupted.

Cause

The battery on the robotics controller has died.

Solution

1) Replace the robotics controller and reinitialize NVRAM. Quantum advises to do this from the diagnostic program rather than the front panel.
2) Reset the power. This procedure may need to be repeated a few times to clear the NVRAM.
3) Use a straight-through cable for diagnostics. There is a Windows-based diagnostics program which is better than the DOS-based program, at ftp://ftp.atlp.com/Customer_support/LibDiag2.02.zip
