Brisque Impose Application Note #7
Creating Preps Jobs for Lotem 800

Problem:

I am exposing directly to plate on the Lotem 800, using the Brisque Impose Workflow. How does the CTP operation change the Workflow?

Explanation:

The CTF and CTP workflow for Press 8 Up Ready are identical. Therefore, when you create a Layout destined for direct plate output, you follow the same procedures as you would for creating a Layout for film output

Solution:

Two important notes which must be considered:

  1. When using the Brisque Impose workflow the Layout size is defined by the Press Sheet Size parameter (from the create imposition information in Preps).
  2. The device setup in the Preps application definesonly the orientation of the Layout, and not any other parameter.

Therefore you may continue using the Dolev 800 device setup for all the Plates Sizes of the Lotem. However, if you wish to have the Lotem device name appear in the device setup menu, perform the following instructions:

  1. From the Brisque Impose 2.8 Accessories CDROM (supplied with the Brisque), copy the st8BI2.ppd and st8BI2.ppx files to the printers:ppd folder (located in your Preps directory).
  2. Restart the Preps application.
  3. From the Device menu, select Device Output; the Device Output window appears.
  4. Click the Add a Device button.
  5. From the Device Type list, select CreoScitex Lotem800 and Dolev800.
  6. In the Nickname field, type in a name (this name will appear in the Device Output list).
  7. Click OK; the Device Configuration window appears.
  8. In the Page Size menu, select Lotem800_and_Dolev800wide.
  9. Click OK.
