Brisque 3.x IBM AIX 4.2.1—Cold Start with GXT-130P graphics adapter

Applies to

  Brisque 3.x IBM AIX 4.2.1

Component

Graphics board GXT-120P used on RS/6000 machines.

Problem

The graphics board GXT-120P used on RS/6000 machines is obsolete. IBM has replaced it with GXT-130P.

Solution

In order to support this new board on Brisque version 3.0 (AIX 4.2.1) there is a new release of AIX CD-ROM with a new installation diskette. This new version supports both the old 120P and the new 130P graphic adapters.

Parts needed

  • The new Brisque 3.0 software kit with the new AIX 4.2.1 is: 513K50929F (instead of 513K50929E)

  • The new AIX CD-ROM that includes in the above kit is: 510V51178 (instead of 510V51177)

  • The new Installation diskette that includes in the above kit is: 501V51339 (instead of 501V51338)

Procedure

In case of  a coldstart, use both the new AIX CD-ROM (part number, 510V51178) and the new installation diskette (part number, 501V51339) with the regular loading procedure.

If replacing boards from 120P to 130P on site, without performing a coldstart, do not install anything. The machine with the previous AIX 4.2.1 is already prepared for 130P.

As of May, 2001, the production line has loaded this version and attached the new software kit (part number, 513K50929F) to the station.
