Starting from January 2003, we are changing hard disk configuration for the supply of Brisque, Brisque Serve, and Timna platforms:

What's new Description
Disk capacity 36-GB disk is now the lowest capacity disk supplied, which replaces the previous 18-GB disk.
Note: IBM still supplies an 18-GB disk with some of their platforms.
Highest capacity 146-GB drive is supported on the external tower only
Rotation speed 10000 RPM is now the slowest disk rotation speed supplied, which replaces the previous 7200 RPM disk. Note: Previously, the E30, 43P, and F50 platforms only supported 7200 RPM.

The new disk configurations have enabled us to reduce the number of disk drives we supply. The following table describes the reduced drive configurations:

Disk Capacity Rotation Speed Supplied with
36-GB 10000 RPM All platforms
73-GB 10000 RPM All platforms and external tower
146-GB 10000 RPM External tower only

Note:

  • Disks that are supplied with external towers are 80-pin SCA drives, which are different than the 68-pin disk that is supplied with all platforms except the 6F1.
  • We supply the IBM 6F1 platforms with 80-pin SCA drives that are located in a special canister. This location is different than the location of the drives that are supplied with the other IBM platforms.
