Background

If you attempt to upgrade a Brisque to version 4.0.97 from any other version 4 (especially version 4.0.85), you might fail with the following error message: “There was no data for 4330-08_AIX_ML in the fix database”. In order to prevent this error, prior to migrating from Version 4.0.85 to Version 4.0.97.18, follow the procedure outlined below.

Procedure

1. Check the AIX level:
   1. In Smit, select Software Installation and Maintenance > List Software and Related Information > List Installed Software and Related Information > Show Fix (APAR) Installation Status, then press F4 to show the list.
   2. If the last AIX level that was loaded is 4330-08_AIX_ML, there is no need to update AIX. Please continue to step 2.
   3. If the last AIX level that was loaded is 4330-06_AIX_ML AIX 4330-06 Update, you need to update AIX before Upgrading to 4.0.97.
      To update AIX:
      • Insert the AIX Add-on CD from 4.0.97.
      • Update AIX via SciSmit. Select Software Handling > Update AIX Recommended Maintenance Level.
      • Proceed with upgrading to 4.0.97.
2. Install the Utils from Brisque Version 4.0.97 CD 1 of 2:
   1. Exit the Brisque application.
   2. Login as root and type your password: ripro.
   3. Type: cd /usr/local/es.
   4. Type: stop-atalk now.
   5. Insert the Brisque Product 4.0.97 CD1 into the CD drive.
   6. Type smit install_latest and press Enter.
   7. Press F4 to select the CD-ROM and press Enter.
   8. Press F4. Select Utils from the list and press Enter.
   9. Press Enter twice.
3. Install Full Version
   1. Insert the Brisque Product 4.0.97 CD1 into the CD drive.
   2. Login as root and type your password: ripro.
   3. Type scismit and press Enter. Select Software Handling > Loading Full Software Version.
   4. Press Enter twice to start the operation.
   5. Finish the installation by following the instructions on the screen.
4. Install the Mandatory Updates
   1. Insert Product CD 2 of 2 (4.0.97.18).
   2. Type scismit and press Enter. Select Software Handling > Update Software Packages.
   3. Press Enter twice to start the operation.
   4. Press F4 to list the updates on the CD.
   5. Select Upd_Brisque4_97_1 and UpdResetBoard and press Press Enter twice.
   6. At the prompt Are You Sure?, press Enter. The system will automatically reboot when complete.

Lotem Quantum PC version 3.5.05 is a prerequisite for Brisque version 4.0.97. After the Brisque upgrade from EP1 (4.0.85+Upds) version to version 4.0.97, you have to calibrate the Lotem Quantum to obtain a full exposable area.

The calibration should be done on the PC Controller, using the "Set gc sshift and mshift" parameters, while setting the following parameters on the Brisque:

• Press Format:
  Head/Tail Margins = 6,6
  Left/Right Margins = 0,0
• Plate expose:
  Offset = 0,0 (without slug/plate ID)
