Symptoms

Vignette files exported as PostScript level 3 are always converted to CT only at the RIP.

Brisque 4.0 and PS/M 7 convert PostScript Level 3 Vignettes to continuous tones (CT).

Solution

If running a Brisque:

  1. In Illustrator 9, save the Vignette as an Illustrator 8 file.
  2. On the Brisque's RIP window, click the Vignette Handling button to open the Vignette Handling dialog box.
  3. Clear the Convert Vignette to PS3 option.

If running PS/M:

  1. In Illustrator 9, save the Vignette as an Illustrator 8 file.
  2. On the RIP tab, click the Vignette button to open the Vignette Handling dialog box.
  3. Select the Convert Vignette to PS3 option.
