Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 or IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

White lines might appear around an image when an image that is placed on top of a LW background with the same color values is sent to proof, or to the KodakXP. (This does not happen on on film or plates).

Cause

The problem occurs as the Combine process DownSamples the LW resolution to the CT resolution.

Solution

  1. In the RIP window, in the LW Res box, set the LW resolution to a multiply of the CT resolution, (that is, CT resolution 12,  LW resolution 120), and manually Combine the Job.
  2. Send the combined CT to the Proof or to the Kodak.
