Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 or IBM 4.3.3

Symptoms

Quality loss occurs in vector data coming from PhotoShop 6.

Cause

The new option of saving vector data in PhotoShop applies a type of clipping path to the vector data (CT data). Some RIP vendors—Bitmap RIP—can apply this clipping path.

The Brisque RIP converts all data to CT and does not use the clipping path applied by Save as .

Solution

Reopen the vector data image in PhotoShop 6. If the vector data is lost you will know that the image was probably saved using the new option in Photoshop 6 and is not really vector data.

In the RIP window, select the CT Quality option. This option enables you to see the border between the CT in LW mode.
