Error

“Abnormal Termination of ps RIP”
Or:
“High res not found”

Symptoms

Sometimes, when you RIP a PDF with embedded high resolution files, the above error message appears, and the RIP fails.

Cause

Some applications write OPI comments inside postscript files for embedded images.

Therefore, if, in the Distiller/Normalizer window, you select the Preserve OPI Comments check box, the OPI comments will stay in the PDF file, and the RIP will try to locate the high resolution images based on the OPI comments.

Solution

In the HighRes Handling dialog box (open from  the RIP window), clear the OPI check box.
