On a Macintosh connecting Brisque 3.0.38 or 4.0 via the Network Browser opens two afpsrv sessions

Product

  Brisque 3.0.38 Update CD2 or Brisque 4.0

Platform

Macintosh

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 or IBM 4.3.3

Symptoms

When you connect  to a Brisque or a server running EtherShare 2.5 via the Network Browser utility on a Macintosh OS9 (under the default Appleshare client 3.8.5), the Macintosh OS9 opens two afpsrv sessions for the same user and creates a maximum number of licensed users. This means that a customer running an EtherShare 2.5 licensed for 20 users can be denied at 10 real connections.

Solution

Update your Appleshare to: Appleshare client 3.8.6.
It can be found at: https://signin.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/signin/?locationurl=http://signin.info.apple.com/index.html?
