- Connect a laptop via the serial port to the serial #1 on the F50 using
the RS232 female to female cable.
- Shutdown the F50 completely. OK appears on the LCD
panel
- Press Enter on your PC. The service processor's menu appears.
- Select #2 System Power Control. Press Enter.
- Select #4 Power-On System. Press Enter.
The machine at this point will start the POST (Power On Self Test),
it will show the icons as text.
- Press 1 before the last word (NOT F1) on your laptop
to get to the SMS in text mode.
- Select #3 Utilities.
- Select #8 Select Console.
- You will then be prompted to press 0 to define this terminal as console
and than on your Graphics monitor press 2 'to select this monitor'.
IMPORTANT: Press 2. DON'T press 0.
- Press 2. The SMS starts on your graphic monitor.
- Disconnect the laptop from the serial port and continue with
the cold start.
Solution 2: If Solution 1 did not work
- Unplug the Mouse Connector from the Brisque.
- Power on the Brisque and wait until you get the Login.
- Power off the Brisque and reconnect the mouse connector.
- Power on the Brisque and wait until you see E1DC on the LCD.
- A white screen appears with a message to press 2 or 3
in the keyboard to continue. The SMS menu then appears.
Solution 3: If above solutions did not work
- Shut down the system.
- Unplug the power cord, and remove the battery for 10 minutes.
- Put the battery back in, and power on the system.
The system power ups to E1DC on the LED display, but no image
appears on the monitor.
- Press 2 and a few seconds later the SMS menu and PowerPC logo
appear.
The system was successful in detecting the boot device. It seems that
there was a corruption in the startup information, and the corruption
was erased when the power was removed.
