Unable to create or modify a Trendsetter and or Spectrum Device using Brisque 4.0

Product

  • Brisque 4.0.97
  • Trendsetter/Proofsetter Spectrum
  • Trendsetter 400/800 Quantum

Platform

  • 43P-150 Tiger 2
  • F50 - Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 44P-170 Hammerhead
  • 6F1-Condor (2, 4, and 6 CPU's)

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

Unable to create a new Trendsetter or Trendsetter Spectrum device via the Brisque Output Devices Configuration window

Cause

Service Host is using the diagnostic port, not allowing the Brisque Agent to communicate with the output device.

(When Service Host is running, a green icon is displayed on the bottom right of the Print Console station.)

Solution

If the device is a Trendsetter Spectrum or Proofsetter Spectrum, install MPE firmware version 1.53 or later.

Remove the Service Host shortcut from the Startup Folder (so that the Brisque can connect at initial startup) and only start the Service Host once the initial connection is established and the device is configured.

  1. On the Print Console workstation, select Start > Settings > Taskbar & Start Menu.
  2. Select the Advanced tab, and then click the Advanced button.
  3. Double-click the All Users folder, followed by Start Menu > Programs > Startup.
  4. In the Startup folder, right-click Service Host to display the pop-up menu, and click Delete.
  5. Reboot the Print Console workstation.
  6. After exposing the first plate or proof to confirm that the initial connection with Brisque is established, manually start the Service Host by double-clicking the Service Host Icon on the desktop.
