In Brisque 3.0.38 and 4.0, special characters in APR filenames cause the RIP to fail

Product

Brisque 3.0.38 Update CD2 and Brisque 4.0

Platform

Brisque 3.0.38

  • E30 - Victory
  • 43P-140 - Tiger1
  • 43P-150 - Tiger2
  • F50 - Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)

Brisque 4.0:

  • E30 - Victory
  • 43P-140 - Tiger1
  • 43P-150 - Tiger2
  • F50 - Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 44P-170 - Hammerhead
  • 6F1 - Condor (2,4 and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 and IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

When APR Images have special characters in the name, the RIP will fail as it does not recognize these characters. The characters that should not be used are exactly those characters that have meaning in UNIX. These include: *?/\|^ %$#@!±P$_ąŁtĄºª=-$><.

Solution

  1. Use regular Numbers and Letters. Do not use the following:*?/\|^ %$#@!±P$_ąŁtĄºª=-$><.
  2. Do not use a single character for a name. Use at least 3 characters.
