Symptoms

Small text, black overprint elements, vignettes RIPed into CT, CopyDot data, and Frame colors are framed or trapped.

Solution

  1. Open the FAF dialog box.
  2. On the General tab, select the Preserve Color Protection check box.
  3. The following items are protected from framing or trapping:
    • Small text
    • Note: In the RIP, you must define the size of the small text to protect it.

      1. In the RIP dialog box, click the Color Handling button to open the Color Handling dialog box.
      2. In the Small text protection below ## pts box, type a point value.
    • Black overprint elements
    • Note: If you want to trap black overprint elements but still preserve color protection of the other elements:

      1. From the RIP dialog box, click the Color Handling button to open the Color Handling dialog box.
      2. Under Black Overprint, select the Allow Trapping check box.
    • Vignettes RIPed into CT
    • CopyDot data
    • Frame colors
Colors that have been added to the document because of the framing will be preserved so that, if the document is framed again, the colors will not be included in the framing process.
