Error

no ppp account available

Symptoms

When attempting to establish a remote PPP dial-up connection to Brisque, the  no ppp account available error message appears.

Cause

Brisque uses two networks: a Brisque-Lotem network that you can use for remote support, and a customer network that you can use for providing support at the customer site.

Brisque assigns your dial-in PC an IP address for the network you are connecting to.

Each time that you use a different Brisque network, you must use the makeppp application to specify which of the two networks to dial in to.

Solution

  1. Dial up the desired Brisque.
  2. To login, type the user name root, and type the password ripro.
  3. At the AIX command line prompt, type:
    makeppp <modem-assigned IP number>

Where <modem-assigned IP number> represents one of the following:

    • IP address for the Brisque-Lotem network (remote support)
    • IP address for the customer network (customer site support)

Note: This IP address is dedicated to the PPP connection and is used as the IP address of the remote host after the PPP connection is established.

This IP address must not be occupied by any other device on the network.
