In Brisque 3.0.38 and 4.0, copying a template across the network may delete its contents

Product

  Brisque™ 3.0.38 and Brisque 4.0

Platform

Brisque 3.0.38

  • E30—Victory
  • 43P-140—Tiger1
  • 43P-150—Tiger2
  • F50—Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)

Brisque 4.0

  • E30—Victory
  • 43P-140—Tiger1
  • 43P-150—Tiger2
  • 44P-170—Hammerhead
  • F50—Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 6F1—Condor (2, 4, and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM® AIX 4.2.1 or IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

The contents of a Brisque template are deleted after the template is copied from one workstation to another workstation across the network, or when the system is upgraded from Brisque 3.0 to Brisque 4.0 (saveconfig from station to station).

Cause

The problem is caused by a defect in the template design.

Solution

To retrieve the contents of a single template:
  1. In Brisque, open an AIX terminal window.
  2. At the AIX command line prompt, type
    cd /scitex/version/utils/, and press <ENTER>.
  3. At the AIX command line prompt, type asps  /dataVolumes/brisqueXX.1.0/<template>.jtt (where <template> represents the name of the template to replace), and press <ENTER>. A new file (with the same name as the original template) is created with a .cr suffix. For example, template.jtt.cr.
  4. Save the original template in a different folder, or rename the template and leave it in the same folder.
  5. Delete the .cr extension from the new template file created in step 3.

To retrieve the contents of more than one template:

  1. Download the upgrade.tar.Z file, and then copy it to the new Brisque folder. For example, /dataVolumes/brisque1.1.0/new.
  2. In Brisque, open an AIX terminal window.
  3. At the AIX command line prompt:
    • Type cd /dataVolumes/brisque1.1.0/new, and press <ENTER>.
    • Type uncompress upgrade.tar.Z, and press <ENTER>.
    • Type tar xvf upgrade.tar, and press <ENTER>.
    • Type cd /scitex/version/utils, and press <ENTER>.
    • Type asps /scitex/version/templates/*.jtt, and press <ENTER>.

For each template, a new file (with the same name as the original template) is created with .cr suffix.

  4. Type ksh mvcrtojtt.ksh, and press <ENTER>.
The mvcrtojtt.ksh script renames the empty templates and removes the .cr suffix.
