Operating system

  • IBM® AIX 4.2.1 or IBM AIX 4.3.3

  • Macintosh® OS 9.x to OS X.x

Symptoms

In Brisque, one of the following events occurs when a file is sent to a hot folder for processing:

  • The file is not processed by the hot folder's associated template.

  • The hot folder triggers before the file is completely copied to it.

  • When a file is sent to a hot folder in PS/M, the file triggers only the first operation defined in the hot folder's template instead of triggering all the operations defined in the template.

Cause

The time or date setting of Brisque is different from the time or date that is set for the other Brisque stations, the server, or the Macintosh computers.

Solution

Designate one Brisque station or Ripro server on site as a time server. Next, synchronize the time and date of the Brisque, server, and Macintosh stations with the designated Brisque time server.

To configure a Brisque station or server as a time server:

  1. Select a Brisque station or Ripro server to act as the time server.

  2. Save the names or IP address of all Brisque stations to be synchronized in /etc/hosts.

  3. Open an AIX terminal window, and at the command line prompt:

    • type smit date, and press Enter to set the time and date.
    • type smit chtz, and press Enter to set the daylight savings time

    Or,

From the Launch Pad, open the Services panel and double click the SMIT icon. The System Management Interface Tool window appears.

    • In the User text box, type root.
    • In the Password text box, type ripro.
    • Click the OK button.
    • From the menu, select System Environments.
    • From the menu, select Change / Show Date, Time, and Time Zone.
  4. Accurately set the current time, date, time zone and daylight savings time.
  5. If the time and date settings were changed, reboot the system.

To synchronize all Brisque stations to the time server, perform this procedure on each Brisque station:

  1. Open an AIX terminal window.
  2. Save the name or IP address of the designated time server in /etc/hosts.
  3. At the AIX command line prompt, type setclock <name of Brisque time server or IP address of Brisque time server>, and press Enter.
  4. Reboot the system.

To synchronize a Macintosh to the time server:

  1. From the Macintosh desktop, choose the Apple menu.
  2. Choose Control Panels > Date & Time. The Date & Time dialog box appears.
  3. In the Current Date and Current Time boxes, set the same time and date that is displayed on the time server.

To configure a Brisque station with a time and date that is different than the time and date on the time server:

Use the same procedure as described in configuring a station as a time server.

Or,

  1. In Brisque, open an AIX terminal window.
  2. At the command line prompt, type date <mmddHHMMyy>, and press Enter.
    • mm represents the month
    • dd represents the day
    • HH represents the hour
    • MM represents the minutes
    • yy represents the year

For example, to set the time and date of a Brisque station as 26.Feb.2003 12:05, type date 0226120503.

  3. Reboot the system.
