Brisque is slow exposing a one-bit TIFF with grayscale and/or registration marks

Product

  • Brisque™ 4.0.97.xx
  • Brisque 4.1.xx

Platform

  • E30—Victory
  • 43P-140—Tiger1
  • 43P-150—Tiger2
  • 44P-170—Hammerhead

Operating system

IBM® AIX 4.2.1 or IBM AIX 4.3.3

Machines affected

Imagesetters

Symptoms

When grayscale and/or registration marks are added to the expose template, Brisque is slow exposing a one-bit TIFF file on imagesetters.

Cause

Brisque translates the one-bit TIFF file to LW (Line Work) "on-the-fly". This process overloads the system CPU and memory resources. Typically, this error occurs on slower Brisque platforms (E30, 43P-140, and, 43P-150).

Solution

Do not add grayscale marks and/or registration marks during the expose operation. Add these marks when you create the one-bit TIFF file.
