Symptom A:

When an AM or Staccato® screen is used to expose a job, a black frame appears around the color/SBI (Scitex Brisque Impose) marker on the plate.

Symptom B:

When a Staccato screen is used to expose a job, tone reproduction is not applied to the plate.

Cause

Symptom A:

This problem occurs when the following conditions are present:

  • There is a color bar or SBI markers on the plate.

  • The Tone Rep Effect Colorbar check box in the Output Preferences window is not selected.

Symptom B:

This problem occurs when the following conditions are present:

  • There is a color bar or SBI markers on the plate.

  • A Staccato screen is used to expose the job.

  • The Tone Rep Effect Colorbar check box in the Output Preferences window is not selected.

Solution

Workaround for Symptoms A and B:

In this workaround, the TRC (Tone Reproduction Curve) affects the entire plate.

  1. From the Brisque Launch Pad, open the Utilities panel, and then double-click the Prefs icon. The Brisque Preferences window appears.

  2. Click the Output icon. The Output Preferences window appears with the Plate Expose tab active.

  3. Select the Tone Rep Effect Colorbar check box.

  4. Click the OK button.

  5. Exit from the Brisque Preferences window.

Workaround for Symptom A when AM screening is used:

For customers who use AM screening and do not want the TRC to affect the color bar, download and install the tone.tar.Z patch:

  1. From the FTP location ftp://cilftp.creo.com/pws/brisque/download/, download the tone.tar.Z patch (8.54 MB) to a Brisque directory.

  2. Use the CD command to navigate to the directory containing the downloaded tone.tar.Z patch.

  3. At the command line prompt, type uncompress tone.tar.Z, and press Enter.

  4. Type tar -xvf tone.tar, and press Enter. Two files are unpacked: pltDc and expose.

  5. Copy the pltDc and expose files into the directory /scitex/version/progs. The existing pltDc and expose files are replaced with the patched versions.

Note:
A permanent solution will be available with the release of Brisque version 4.1.66.
