Symptoms

When a power failure occurs, the invensys Powerware
(2 or 3 kilovolt-ampere) uninterrupted power supply (UPS) does not automatically shut down Brisque, Brisque Serve, or Timna.

Cause

There is a software problem between invensys Lansafe software, which controls the UPS, and the AIX operating system.

This software problem prevents the UPS from communicating with Brisque, Brisque Serve, or Timna.

Solution

Download and install the updated software that controls the Powerware UPS:

  1. Download the AIX4.tar (2.39 MB) file to a directory on Brisque.
  2. In Brisque, from the command line, use the CD command to navigate to the directory containing the downloaded AIX4.tar file.
  3. Run the install.sh script.
  4. When prompted, Are you installing from a CD-ROM?, type n, and press Enter.
  5. When prompted, Please enter the name of the device (or tarfile) to install from., type aix4.tar, and press Enter.
  6. Continue answering the remaining prompts to complete the UPS software installation.

The information that you need to enter when prompted by the install.sh script is detailed in the UPS read me file.
