Error

File is unrecognized by Preview
|
|
Symptoms
|
|
After changing the Owner and Group read/write/x permissions
in the workstation, TIFFs that are sent to Brisque from a workstation
in a domain using Hummingbird 7.1 prevent the execution of any operations
at the Brisque, and a message stating that the file is unrecognizable
appears on the screen.
|
|
Cause
|
|
Generally, the Hummingbird 7.1 Server is loaded on a workstation within
its own workgroup. However, when using a workstation in a domain,
data is missing in the Hummingbird files.
|
|
Solution
|
|
Create a user and group at the Primary Domain Controller (PDC) domain.
This allows Hummingbird to apply the correct permissions of the domain.
- Request the Domain Administrator of your site to create a scitex
group and a brisque user for the PDC domain with read/write/x
permissions, but not on the local workstation using Hummingbird.
- Follow the procedures in the TIFF
Front End Server Installation procedure (part number 73-3344B-A-PR01)
and the Hummingbird
Server Connectivity procedure (part number 72-3056A-K-PR01) before
continuing.
- On the workstation, open the NFS Maestro Server Configuration window
by selecting Control Panel > Hummingbird NFS Server, then
select the Name Mapping tab.
- On the Name Mapping tab, select the domain name from the Load
Names from list. Do not include the local workstation name in the
list.
- Remove the previous name entries, if any, and click the Reload
Names button.
- From the User Name list in the User Name <->
UID Mapping area, select brisque. Then from the UID
list, select scitex200, and click Insert.
- From the Group Name list in the Group Name <-> GID
Mappings area, select scitex. Then from the GID list,
select scitex200, and click the Insert button.
The following domain names appear: Domain name\brisque200 and
Domain name\scitex200.
- In the NFS Maestro Server Configuration window, select the Exported
File System tab.
- In the List of Exported File Systems box on the Exported
File System tab, remove the previous entries.
- In the Exported File Systems box, type:
C:\Brisquein;
- Click the Permissions button. In the Permissions window, select
the domain names for both the User and Owner.
Note: In the Permissions window, Owner equals Group.
- Click the Reload Names button and select brisque as
the User and scitex as the Owner. Then select all the User and
Owner read/write/x permissions on the matrix.
