Operating system

  IBM® AIX 4.2.1 or IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

Brisque is slow printing a job to an Improof output device.

Brisque processes a template that includes both the Improof and Plate Expose operations. For example, a template may contain the operations Translate > Improof > Plate Expose.

Cause

Two fetch processes run. The first fetch process runs when processing the Improof operation, and thereafter, a more detailed fetch process runs when processing the Plate Expose operation.

Solution

Disable the fetch process from running when processing the Improof operation. You perform this procedure after installing the Improof 9 update.

You can perform the following procedures remotely.

Installing the Improof 9 update:

  1. Log out from the CDE (common desktop environment).
  2. At the AIX command line, log in using the user name root, and the password ripro.
  3. Insert the Brisque 4.0.97.23 Product CD-ROM 2 of 2 into the CD-ROM drive.
  4. At the AIX command line, type smit install_latest, and press Enter.
  5. Select the input device /dev/cd0.
  6. From the Software to Install menu, select Improof 9 Upd.
  7. At the Automatically install requisite software option, select No.
  8. At the Overwrite same and newer version option, select Yes.

Disable the Improof fetch processes:

  1. At the AIX command line, type vi /scitex/version/UseHwRotate.Def.
  2. Navigate to the following line of text: UseHwRotateApp.UseHwRotateDlg*improofDoRowInt.set: 1.
  3. Replace the number 1 with a new value of 0.
  4. Save your changes.
