Symptoms

Brisque cannot communicate with the HP designjet 1050c plus printer via the TCP/IP protocol.

Cause

Brisque does not support the new communication protocol or firmware that is used by the HP designjet 1050c printer.

Solution

As a temporary solution to enable TCP/IP communication between Brisque and the HP deignjet 1050c printer, download and install the 1050cplus.tar.Z patch on Brisque.
In addition, you will need:

  1. An HP Jetdirect external print server box that is connected between the HP designjet 1050c and Brisque with parallel port connections.
  2. The HP 1050c printer to be configured as a device in Brisque.

To download and install the 1050cplus.tar.Z patch on Brisque:

  1. From the FTP location ftp://cilftp.creo.com/pws/brisque/download/V4/Patches, download the 1050cplus.tar.Z patch (3.51 MB).
  2. Copy the downloaded patch to the Brisque directory /scitex/version/progs.
  3. Use the CD command to navigate to the /scitex/version/progs directory, which contains the 1050cplus.tar.Z patch.
  4. At the command line prompt, type uncompress 1050cplus.tar.Z, and press Enter.
    Brisque creates the file 1050cplus.tar.
  5. At the command line, type tar xvf 1050cplus.tar, and press Enter.
    Brisque creates the file improof.new.
  6. At the command line, type cp -p improof.new improof, and press Enter.

A permanent solution will be available with the release of Brisque 4.1.
