Symptoms

You cannot troubleshoot TSP board errors that are displayed on Brisque or you cannot troubleshoot why Brisque stops responding due to a problem with the TSP board.

Cause

You cannot troubleshoot the TSP board errors because the system's log file is deleted from the /temp directory after rebooting the system.

Solution

Run the tsp_catch.sh script to create a TSP error log for you to send to your support specialist for further analysis.

Once run, the tsp_catch.sh script carries out the following operations:

• Configures the cron to activate itself (the tsp_catch.sh script) every minute.
• Checks every minute if there is a change in date and time in the /tmp/tspErrors.log file .
• When the /tmp/tspErrors.log log file's date or time changes, creates a new log file, $SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.1, which contains the following sections:
  • Latest /tmp/tspErrors.log file
  • Last 10 lines from the current errpt inquiry
  • Capture of df -k
  • Last 200 line from the ripro_messages
    See below for a sample TSP error log file output.
• When the time and date of the /tmp/tspErrors.log file changes, copies the existing $SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.1 to create a new log file $SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.2, and creates a new $SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.1 log file, and so on.
• Keeps a record of the last 10 log files ($SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.1 to $SCI_LOGS/tsp_err.10).

To run the tsp_catch.sh script:

In Brisque version 4.1 and 4.097.23 with Upd_Brisque4_97_Output

1. At the command line prompt, navigate to the directory $SCI_SCRIPTS.
2. Type tsp_catch.sh and press Enter.

In Brisque version 4.0:

1. Download the tsp_catch.tar.Z compressed tar file.
2. Copy the tsp_catch.tar.Z file to the Brisque directory $SCI_SCRIPTS.
3. At the AIX command line prompt, use the CD command to navigate to the directory $SCI_SCRIPTS.
4. Type untar tsp_catch.tar and press Enter.
5. Type tsp_catch.sh and press Enter.

To stop the tsp_catch.sh script from running:

1. At the AIX command line prompt, type crontab -e and press Enter.

2. Locate the line * * * * * /scitex/version/scripts/tsp_catch.sh, and at the beginning of the line, type #.

3. Save the crontab file and exit from the text editor.
