Error

No response from device

Symptoms

When there are two or more plate expose jobs in the queue that are waiting to be exposed on the Trendsetter 800 II Quantum platesetter, an error message appears and Brisque fails to expose the jobs.

Cause

This is a known limitation of Brisque 4.0.97.23.

Solution

Upgrade Brisque 4.0.97.23 to Brisque version 4.1.76.

Alternatively, perform the following workaround, which forces Brisque to process jobs that are waiting in the queue one at a time. You enable this functionality by changing two lines in the jt.config file, which is located in the directory /scitex/versio/config.

Note: This workaround may cause Brisque to perform slower than usual.

To force Brisque to expose one job at time:

  1. Quit the Brisque application.
  2. Open an AIX terminal window.
  3. At the command line prompt, use the CD command to navigate to the directory /scitex/versio/config.
  4. Type cp jt.config jt config.org and press Enter..
The backup file jt.config.org is created.
  5. Use the vi text editor to open the jt.config file.
  6. Locate the row JobTicketSystemConfigDesc.JobTicketSystemConfigDesc*JTAllowExecMoreOper.itemCount: 2.
  7. Change the variable 2 to 1.
The new line should look as follows: JobTicketSystemConfigDesc.JobTicketSystemConfigDesc*JTAllowExecMoreOper.itemCount: 1.
  8. Locate the row JobTicketSystemConfigDesc.JobTicketSystemConfigDesc*JTAllowExecMoreOper.items: expose,plateExp
  9. Delete the word ,plateExp (including the comma).
The new line should look as follows: JobTicketSystemConfigDesc.JobTicketSystemConfigDesc*JTAllowExecMoreOper.items: expose
  10. Save the file and exit from the vi text editor.
  11. Restart the Brisque application.
