Platform

  • F50–Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3

Symptoms

In the Trendsetter 800 II ContinuousLoad and Brisque 4.1 configuration, there is no Brisque option for working in manual mode.

Solution

This solution enables you to switch the loader to manual mode using the Manual bypass option that appears in the Plate Expose dialog box after you install the Manual bypass patch.

Note: A permanent solution will be provided in Upd_Brisque41_Output—4.1.76.6 or later.

Prerequisites for this solution:

  • Brisque version 4.1.76 + Upd_Brisque41_76_1
  • Upd_Brisque41_Output - 4.1.76.5
Note: The update is also available on CD #633-00307A.
  • Brisque Agent Ver.054 on Print Console

Loading instructions
On Print Console:

  1. Download ver.054.zip to the Print Console workstation.
  2. Verify that the user has administrator privileges.
  3. Remove the previous BrisqueAgent version and restart the computer.
  4. Copy ver.054.zip to the computer and expand the file.
  5. Install the new BrisqueAgent software.

On Brisque:

  1. Log off the Brisque application.
  2. Log on as root and type your password (ripro).
  3. Type cd /scitex/version/progs and press Enter.
  4. Type cp -p expose expose.org and press Enter to back up the original file.
  5. Type cp -p pltDc pltDc.org and press Enter to back up the original file.
  6. Type cp -p plateExp_dlg plateExp_dlg.org and press Enter (to back up the original file).
  7. Type cd /scitex/version/dg_res/En_US and press Enter.
  8. Type cp -p plateExp_dg35.res pateExp_dlg35.res.org and press Enter to back up the original file.
  9. Download ManBypas.tar to dataVolumes/example.1.0/.updates.
  10. Type CD dataVolumes/example.1.0/Updates and press Enter.
  11. Type tar - ManBypas.tar and press Enter. The new files are automatically copied to their designated locations.
  12. Type exit and log on as cdesci.

It is important to remember to install the patch on the Brisque after each software installation (cold start and full version).

Using the Manual bypass option:

When the Manual bypass check box is selected in the PlateExp template, Print Console prompts you to manually load the plate. The unload is still automatic directly into the processor via the unload table.

The Manual Bypass option is useful for the following:

  • The customer wants to expose a plate other than the size that is currently loaded in the bay.
  • When there is a mechanical problem with the plate picker, the user can continue production until the problem is fixed.
  • When the customer wants to use a media that cannot be handled by autoload/unload, such as film and very small plates. The customer can check the manual unload box when setting up the media size in Print Console. By selecting both Manual unload in Print Console and Manual bypass in Brisque, the media will be loaded and unloaded manually from the front of the device, similar to a manual Trendsetter.
