Solution

The Creo Brisque Product Development team is currently testing a patch that will provide a solution to this problem. If you are interested in this patch, please contact a Creo Response Center.
Please continue to monitor eCentral for further developments regarding this problem.

Minimum requirements:

  • Brisque version 4.1.76.4
  • Upd_Brisque41_Rip.obj - Level 4.1.76.4
  • CTQTransparency patch

To install Upd_Brisque41_Rip.obj update:

  1. Download the update to your Macintosh computer.
  2. Follow the installation instructions in the PDF file provided with the update.

To install the CTQTransparency patch:
Note: Wherever BrisqueX appears in the procedure, type your Brisque name.

  1. Download CTQTransp.tar.Z to your Macintosh computer
  2. Copy the file to /dataVolumes/BrisqueX.1.0/.updates on the Brisque workstation
  3. On the Brisque, log out cdesci.
  4. In the Console Login dialog box, log on to UNIX®:
In the Username box, type root
In the Password box, type ripro
  5. At the command line, type:
    cd /scitex/version/progs and press Enter
    cp -p psrip_V3 psrip_V3.org and press Enter
    cd /dataVolumes/BrisqueX.1.0/.updates and press Enter
    uncompress CTQTransp.tar.Z and press Enter
tar -xvf CTQTransp.tar and press Enter
  6. Restart the Brisque workstation.

In case you need to remove the patch:

  1. On the Brisque workstation, log out of cdesci.
  2. In the Console Login dialog box, log in to UNIX:
In the Username box, type root
In the Password box, type ripro
  3. At the command line, type:
    cd /scitex/version/progs and press Enter
    cp -p psrip_V3.org psrip_V3 and press Enter
  4. Restart the Brisque workstation.

To set up the Brisque workflow setup after installing the update and patch:
Note: The spot colors in the processed PDF file must be mapped correctly. You cannot map them on the RIP.

  1. Create a Hot Folder template containing RIP --> FAF
  2. Set the following RIP settings:
    1. Select Specific under Spot Colors.
    2. Select CT on CT Border: LW Res under CT Handling.
    3. Select PS Overprint and Black Overprint under Color Handling.
    4. Clear Enhanced Handling under PDF Params.
    5. Set up the other RIP options as needed.
  3. Set the following FAF settings:
If the file requires trapping, then FAF will work only with the following settings:
    • Select CT to CT and CT Data under CT Handling, or:
    • Clear CT to CT under CT Handling.

Note: Trapping CT to CT using Values of Transparency Seps is not supported.

To submit the file:

  • Drag the file to the Hot Folder.

Important: Do not interrupt the process and do not open the template options before or during the file submission (that is, do not select Hold before RIP). The file must complete the entire process without any user interference.
